Leon (1 year old)

Leon is a delightful little boy with a bright smile and a cheeky spirit.

At just one year old, he already loves interactive games. One of his favourites is when someone asks, “How big is Leon?” and he throws his arms in the air with pride and laughs at the response, “This big!”

Leon thrives on interaction and enjoys exploring the world. He brings warmth and laughter to those around him.

Life Through Leon’s Eyes

The world is an exciting place for Leon. Every day brings new things to discover, whether that is a toy he has not explored before, activities at his toddler group or simply the chance to crawl around freely and investigate his surroundings.

Leon enjoys the comfort of a familiar routine and feels secure when his day follows a predictable pattern. This helps him understand the world and gives him confidence to learn and grow.

He seeks comfort from familiar adults and benefits from nurturing relationships. As he grows, he’ll need a family to build trust and celebrate his milestones.

Leon has genetic conditions that may bring developmental delays, but these challenges do not define him. His determination and curiosity stand out.

What Makes Him Smile

Leon finds happiness in many everyday moments. He loves music, especially nursery rhymes like Old MacDonald and Wind the Bobbin Up, and enjoys colourful, musical programmes like Ms Rachel. He’s fascinated by bubbles and can spend ages playing with his bubble machine..

Leon’s Special Strengths

Leon’s greatest strength is resilience. Despite uncertainty about his future needs, he continues to make progress and embrace new experiences.

He is naturally curious, enjoys exploring, and shows determination when learning new skills, like pulling himself up to stand.

Leon is a happy and content little boy who approaches life with enthusiasm. His ability to engage with people, adapt, and find joy in daily activities will be valuable as he continues his journey.

What Helps Him Feel Safe and Loved

Leon benefits from a calm, predictable routine and patient, nurturing caregivers. At nap and bedtime, he enjoys his special blanket and soothing background sounds, routines that help him feel secure.

Leon thrives when adults join his play, encourage his development, and celebrate his achievements. He’ll need a family to provide warmth, stability, and advocacy as he grows.

Looking Ahead

Leon has two identified genetic conditions which may impact his development. While it is difficult to predict exactly what the future will look like, there is an increased possibility of developmental delay, learning difficulties, communication needs and other health considerations.

Leon already demonstrates many positive qualities. He enjoys learning through play and approaches life with confidence and curiosity. With the right support, he can continue developing in his own unique way.

His future family will need to access services, attend medical appointments, and advocate for his needs, including ongoing medical follow-up for his genetic diagnosis.

Could You Be the Family Leon Is Waiting For?

Leon is a little boy with a contagious smile, playful personality, and bright curiosity. Though he faces challenges, he has many strengths, great potential, and so much love to give. He needs a family who sees beyond medical terminology to the joyful, loving child at his core.

His ideal family will cherish him as he is, support him at every stage, and celebrate all that makes him unique. Patience, resilience, and open-mindedness are important, embracing uncertainty and celebrating every achievement, big or small.

Experience with additional needs could help, but most important is a willingness to learn, advocate, and provide unconditional love. Leon needs parents who can offer stability, consistency, and lifelong commitment to helping him reach his potential.

Support in place for you

Family Adoption Links will provide full support for Leon’s adoptive family, including access to free training, therapeutic parenting courses, adoption support services, professional guidance, funding for therapeutic services, and ongoing support from social workers.

If you can offer patience, understanding, advocacy, and unconditional love, you could be the family that helps Leon grow, thrive, and build the secure future he deserves. If this could be you, please get in touch and Find out more about Leon
