Harvey (4)

Meet Harvey – A sweet and cheeky explorer

With a smile that could light up any room, four-year-old Harvey is an incredibly happy and affectionate little boy who captures hearts wherever he goes. His cheeky grin, full of charm and curiosity, reflects his energetic spirit and thirst for life. He’s imaginative, polite, full of laughter and ready to share his next adventure with a forever family.

What makes Harvey shine

Harvey’s foster carers describe him as “polite, helpful and considerate.” He’s inquisitive and full of energy, always on the go and excited to explore the world around him. Whether he’s building a tower nearly as tall as himself, splashing in puddles, or whipping up something messy in a mud kitchen, Harvey thrives on play and discovery.

He absolutely loves anything with wheels—cars, trucks, diggers—you name it! Water play is another firm favourite and outside time is always a big hit. Bath time is pure joy for Harvey, full of bubbles and giggles.

He also enjoys imaginary play and engages well with other children. Harvey currently attends nursery four days a week and really enjoys it. He’s in a stable, predictable routine that supports him well and allows him to thrive.

A day in Harvey’s world

Harvey thrives on consistency and predictability. His days follow this routine:

  • 7:30am – Breakfast
  • 10:30am – Morning snack
  • 12:30pm – Lunch
  • 3:00pm – Afternoon snack
  • 6:00pm – Dinner
  • 7:00pm – Bath, teeth brushed, and storytime
  • 8:00pm – Lights out (with a bit of singing and quiet play before he drifts off)

Harvey doesn’t have a specific comfort item at night, but he sometimes asks for his Pikachu teddy to cuddle up with.

Getting to know Harvey

  • Favourite food: Beans and bananas! (He’s a great eater and tries most foods.)
  • Favourite things to do: Building tall towers, outdoor play, exploring water and mud kitchens.
  • Favourite time of day: Bath time or anytime he can be outdoors!
  • TV preferences: Harvey isn’t a fan of TV—he much prefers hands-on play and exploring.
  • Pets: He has previously lived with animals and enjoys their company. There are no allergy concerns.

Harvey’s journey so far

Harvey came into foster care at 3 and a half after experiencing a difficult start to life. Sadly, Harvey experienced neglect, poor living conditions, and exposure to domestic violence during this early time.

Since moving into foster care, Harvey has blossomed. His foster carers have done an incredible job supporting his development – he now communicates well, shows increasing emotional resilience and has made phenomenal progress. His speech has improved significantly and he’s learning every day.

While Harvey has shown some tricky behaviours in the past, these are mostly linked to difficulties expressing himself. With nurturing, 1:1 attention and consistent routines, these behaviours have greatly improved. Harvey’s future parents will need to continue supporting his emotional growth using gentle, therapeutic strategies.

Health and development

Harvey has mild developmental delay, but he’s catching up rapidly and continues to thrive with encouragement and support. His current foster carer and professionals are optimistic about his continued progress.

He does have significant dental cavities due to a previously poor diet. Thankfully, they aren’t currently causing him pain and his diet is now rich in nutrients, helping his teeth grow stronger. He will need regular dental check ups and healthy eating habits moving forward.

What Harvey needs

Harvey will do best in a home where he receives warmth, patience, structure and lots of individual attention. He needs adoptive parents who can:

  • Offer consistent, loving care with routines that help him feel safe.
  • Support him in exploring his life story with honesty and compassion.
  • Advocate for him in education and health settings as he grows.
  • Embrace therapeutic parenting and be open to continued learning and support.

Importantly, Harvey will need help maintaining links with his birth family—including indirect contact (via annual letters) with his birth parents and extended family, and ongoing contact with paternal half-siblings, potentially through sibling events.

The support you’ll receive

If you adopt Harvey, you won’t be on your own. Family Adoption Links Leicestershire offers:

  • Free therapeutic parenting training
  • Life story work and PACE parenting guidance
  • Emotional literacy and attachment support
  • Access to the Adoption Support Fund for future therapeutic needs
  • Priority school placement and additional school funding
  • Adoption leave up to 12 months
  • Ongoing contact with social workers
  • Supportive transition planning
  • Regular e-newsletters and events

You’ll be equipped to help Harvey flourish and navigate his story with pride and confidence.

Who we’re looking for

We welcome enquiries from individuals or couples of any background, religion, or ethnicity. There’s no preference around existing children in the household—what matters most is your ability to provide a loving, stable and nurturing home where Harvey can feel safe and accepted.

A bright future starts here

Harvey has come so far—and with the right support, he has every chance to continue growing into a confident, resilient, and happy child. His cheeky smile, curious nature, and boundless imagination are waiting to be shared with a family ready to walk alongside him, could you be the one to help Harvey write his next chapter?
