Your Voice Matters: Share Your Adoption Experience in Government Consultations

She is a sensitive little soul who communicates clearly when she needs comfort or support. Her foster carer describes her as a baby who thrives on closeness, calmness, and consistency. Suki is making real progress every day. Since starting physiotherapy and getting the right medication for her tummy troubles, she’s much more comfortable and able to enjoy her world. You can see the differences, she’s more engaged, more curious, and lighting up more often with those beautiful smiles.
How Suki is growing and developing
Suki has been diagnosed with CLTC-D (CLTC-related disorder), a rare genetic condition that affects multiple aspects of development. For Suki, this means she experiences challenges with motor skills, muscle tone, feeding, and sensory processing.
Children with CLTC-D need ongoing support from a team of health professionals, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and specialist medical care. This is a lifelong condition, but here’s what’s important: early intervention and consistency, loving care can help children like Suki make meaningful progress and develop new skills at their own pace.
Every child with CLTC-D is different, and with the right support, they can reach milestones and experience a good quality of life. Suki’s health needs are complex and will require commitment, but you won’t be doing this alone. Children with this diagnosis often require ongoing support from health professionals, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and specialist medical input.
Her current care includes a well-established feeding routine of five feeds daily with a high-energy formula to support her growth. She takes medication to manage gastrointestinal issues, which has significantly reduced her discomfort. She attends regular physiotherapy sessions and will need ongoing therapeutic appointments as she grows. Her adoptive parents will need to coordinate this care, attend medical appointments, and advocate for her needs, but the support network is already in place to help you do this confidently.
A day in Suki’s world
Despite her challenges, Suki’s personality shines through beautifully. She’s a morning person, often waking up with a smile that could melt your heart. She’s a cuddle bug who loves being held close, and that’s when you’ll see her most relaxed and content. She’s sensitive to her environment, so while loud or chaotic spaces aren’t her thing, she absolutely blossoms with calm, loving care and a routine she can count on.
Even though she lives in a busy household with other children and dogs around, Suki has made it clear she prefers her own quiet corner of the world. She loves soft cuddles and peaceful moments, and she’s perfectly content spending time in her bouncer, just watching the world go by with those observant eyes.
Suki already knows her own mind. She’ll let you know exactly when she wants a cuddle (often!), and she’s happiest when life is calm and gentle. Car rides and lots of movement aren’t her favourite, as they make her uncomfortable, but give her a peaceful environment and loving arms, and she’s completely at ease.
What Suki Needs
Suki needs a family who can offer her a peaceful, loving home where there’s no rush—where she can develop at her own pace and every small victory is celebrated. She’ll do best with parents who are patient, consistent, and tuned in to what she’s telling them. You’ll be working alongside a supportive team of professionals, and together you’ll help Suki reach her potential.
A quieter home would suit Suki perfectly, somewhere she can feel safe and secure, with parents who love nothing more than snuggling with their little one. Most importantly, Suki needs a family who will celebrate every smile, every milestone, every moment of progress, and give her the unconditional love every child deserves.
