Sophie is a sweet and loving little girl with the sunniest personality and a smile that warms your heart. Her happiest moments are spent outdoors, where her adventurous spirit and curiosity shine. Whether she’s exploring the garden, splashing in her water tray, smelling and picking flowers, or zipping around on her Scuttlebug trike, Sophie lights up with pure joy.
While Sophie is non-verbal, she has her own unique ways of making her needs known and connecting with those she trusts. Her foster carer shares that Sophie adores cuddles, holding hands, and moments of quiet affection.
Sophie has developed a strong bond with her foster carer, who describes her as a happy, content, and affectionate little girl. Her attachment is clear in the way she seeks cuddles and communicates her needs. For example, she might bring the TV remote to indicate she’d like to watch something. She also enjoys interacting with the family dog, finding joy in watching, playing, and going for walks together.
At nursery, Sophie thrives in an environment tailored to children with developmental needs. She has built positive relationships with the staff and looks forward to her time there each day. Sensory activities, water play, and exploring the toys are among her favourite things at nursery, and she happily plays alongside her peers.
Sophie enjoys a good variety of foods, eats well, and sleeps peacefully for 10–12 hours each night with the comfort of her dummy.
Sophie is likely to be autistic and exhibits many of the characteristics associated with autism such as fleeting eye contact. While she doesn’t yet engage in imaginative play or point out objects of interest, Sophie expresses herself in ways that those close to her learn to understand. She occasionally experiences frustration, which can lead to scratching or biting, but with patience and love, she continues to grow and thrive.
