Dedicated to and passionate about adoption excellence.
Welcome to Family Adoption Links Leicestershire, 5 years ago, the Leicestershire County Council Adoption Service joined together with four other local authorities to create Family Adoption Links, a regional adoption agency (RAA) designed to deliver excellence and best practices across all areas of adoption.
Here at Family Adoption Links Leicestershire, we have a dedicated and passionate team who are here to support you all the way through your adoption journey.
We are here to talk you through the options and things to consider if you are thinking about adoption. We’ll provide lots of information, advice and our useful ‘You Can Adopt’ Information event will help you to decide when the best time for you to start the adoption journey will be.
Our experienced team will guide you through the assessment process, providing comprehensive training and mentoring to help you grow your knowledge and confidence in adoption. In turn, this will give you the best chance possible of being approved as adopters and finding the right child for you.
Working with our Assessment team, our Family Finding team will understand, through your assessment, your potential strengths and abilities as potential adopters and aim to find the ideal match for you. As part of Family Adoption Links, all partner Local Authorities work together, pooling our adopters and children who are waiting to provide a better choice and well-matched placement of children with adopters.
We’re eager to offer you as much information as possible so that you can decide if adoption is right for you. Our ‘book a chat’ option gives you the opportunity to choose a time to suit you (there’s slots on Saturdays and evenings too) where you can speak to a member of our experienced team who will be able to answer all of the questions you have.
Family Adoption Links hold free, monthly and online ‘You Can Adopt’ events to give you the opportunity to find out everything you need to know about adoption and enjoy a unique opportunity to hear from and ask questions to people who have already adopted. Book your place here.
If you would prefer to meet us in person, why not book on to our event at County Offices on Tuesday, 19th August, register for a place here.
Adoption support needs to be life-long and at Family Adoption Links Leicestershire, we offer support to our adopters for as long as it is needed. Our team includes therapists, experienced social workers and support staff, all of whom will be there for you and your adopted child whatever life may bring.
You can call the Post-adoption helpline on 0116 305 1126, which is open every Wednesday 9am-12pm, for support and advice or to talk to someone about how you are feeling. If they’re not able to provide all the support and advice you need they’ll be able to signpost you to other services. Alternatively, you can contact us by email and we will endeavour to get back to you within 5 working days.
From online groups to stay and plays, training and more, we have a variety of ways to support you and your children.

Held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month between 10.45 and 12.30am and hosted by the friendly Social Workers from the Adoption Team, why not drop us an email to find out the location and book your place?
Busy Butterflies
Why not bring your little ones and enjoy the chance to play, craft and make friends with other adopters and their families. Take a few hours to relax and connect whilst enjoying a delicious hot or cold drink and some yummy biscuits. If you’d like to attend, please send us a message and we’ll be happy to send you the venue details. We’re delighted to welcome all Family Adoption Links adopters.
Walk and Talk
Grab the scooters and skates, bikes and buggies and join us for a stroll in beautiful nature. You and your little one can meet and make friends with others who have enjoyed this unique journey to becoming a family whilst enjoying the fresh air (and hopefully the sunshine!).
Big kids are welcome but no pooches I’m afraid. Don’t forget to dress for the weather and if you fancy coffee and a cake afterwards bring some money for the cafe.
Takes place every 4th Tuesday of the month between 10 and 11.30am. To find out the location, please drop us an email.
Online Support Groups
Sometimes the best support and advice comes from those who are in similar situations, with this in mind, we’d like to invite you to join our online support groups. Taking place every month between 8 and 9pm, we’ll be discussing different subjects (see below) and inviting participants to share their experience and advice. To join, please send us an email.
26th March – The teenage brain
30th April – Letting birth family time grow with our child.
28th May – Challenges & triumphs with behaviour issues
The Adopter Consultation Hub
We’re really proud to offer our adopters the opportunity to join the Adopter Consultation Hub. Meeting virtually every 2 months, the group consults on and co-produces materials across a wide range of subjects to ensure the support we offer is relevant and useful to adopters.
If you’d like to get involved, send us an email.
Collabor8
We have a Young Person’s Council called Collabor8 who we meet with bi-monthly to consult and collaborate on our projects. If your young person would like to get involved, please email alex.mcguire@lincolnshire.co.uk
As an Adoption Service in England, we are required to produce a written Statement of Purpose each year which sets out details of our services and how we will meet our commitment to providing high-quality care and support for our children, young people, and adopters.
