Artie (6)

We need adopters for amazing little Artie, could you be the one?

6 year old Artie is a funny, affectionate little boy who has the biggest smile and gives the best cuddles. He loves one-to-one attention and thrives when he feels safe, supported, and understood.

Artie enjoys simple play, especially with his toy cars and is at his happiest when he can share time with the adults who care for him. Like many children, he can become frustrated when things feel difficult but with patience and reassurance, he soon settles again.

A little about Artie

  • Artie is non-verbal and communicates through sounds, gestures and pointing. His foster carers, who know him very well, have learnt to understand his unique ways of expressing himself, which has helped him feel calmer and more content.
  • He loves physical affection and will happily cuddle up when he feels secure.
  • Artie has made incredible progress since entering care — when he first arrived, he was unable to walk and now he can confidently get around on his feet with the right support.
  • He is curious about the world and enjoys light, sound and exploring his surroundings in his own way.

Artie’s strengths and progress

Artie has shown determination and resilience in his development. With the help of growth treatment and therapy, his mobility and strength have come a long way. He is now able to walk, run in his own unique style and enjoys joining in with play and movement. He also wears glasses to support his eyesight and is doing well with these.

Although Artie experiences global developmental delay and requires significant support with everyday tasks like eating, dressing and toileting, he continues to make steady progress and does really well when given encouragement and consistency.

The family Artie is hoping for

Artie needs a loving, patient and understanding family who can offer him the one-to-one care, stability and warmth he thrives on. His new family will need to be able to:

  • Support him with his learning and communication needs
  • Celebrate his achievements, however small and encourage his growing independence
  • Be calm, consistent, and responsive when he becomes frustrated
  • Provide a safe, nurturing environment filled with love, patience and lots of cuddles

In return, Artie will bring joy, smiles, and affection to his forever family. He is a little boy who, with the right support, has so much potential to continue growing, developing, and building special relationships.
