Darcy (1)

Meet Darcy… A bright and cheerful little girl who is ready to meet her forever family.

Darcy is a vibrant little girl with an unforgettable personality. Darcy is a bundle of joy and her cheekiness is always making people laugh—sometimes Darcy shows off her playful side just to see others smile. Since coming to live with her current carer, Darcy has truly blossomed from a shy and reserved little girl into a confident and outgoing character.

Darcy is a girl who loves a routine, particularly when it comes to sleep – she is a champion sleeper from 7pm to 7am and she often needs a little nudge to wake her up in the mornings. Darcy’s morning routines always consists of lots of dancing to start the day.

Darcy would thrive in a family that appreciates her love for routine, encourages her independence, and treasures her playful, determined personality. She is ready for a forever family that will continue to support her growth, laugh along with her, and dance to the beat of each new day together.

Darcy is gently woken up around 7am. The day is started with a kitchen dance party where everyone dances and sings to the songs on Alexa. Darcy is an excellent eater and loves to feed herself at breakfast time. The majority of Darcy’s day will be spent at the local nursery. She currently attends 8am-5pm for 3 days a week. Darcy thoroughly enjoys attending and responds well to nursery staff and her peers. Dinner is a lively time for Darcy, who sits down with her family to enjoy the meal. She is a strong eater and dives right into her food, happily trying new things and enjoying the company of her family. She’s known for her “hoover” tendencies, as she’ll eat almost anything in front of her, and it’s brilliant to see her healthy appetite. Darcy winds down in the evening watching TV with the family or playing on her iPad. Before bedtime, she is read a story and given a big cuddle.

Darcy’s best bits would be watching and listening to Cocomelon, the morning kitchen dance parties and spending time with her carers who she loves very much.

As a 1 year old, Darcy is growing and becoming more independent. But there are still many parts of her day where she needs help, guidance and support. For instance, although Darcy loves to feed herself, she occasionally needs help with her cutlery. She has recently transitioned from crawling to walking so needs help navigating her steps on uneven steps and of course needs to be supervised when climbing. Darcy is often cautious around strangers and new experiences (which is a great sign for her attachment) so she likes a trusted adult with her to help her feel secure and provide comfort when encountering unfamiliar people or settings. Due to her age, she is still reliant upon her care givers to meet her needs such as nappy changes, washing her hands etc.

Darcy is most confident when she is in familiar and comforting environments, surrounded by people she knows and trusts. When she is with her carers, she is able to be her sassy, funny and silly self.  Darcy’s confidence has been built on the love, stability and encouragement that she receives giving her a vibrant, lovable personality.

Darcy is most relaxed during his evening wind-down time. After a long day of playing and burning off her energy, Darcy changes into her pyjamas and snuggles up on her bed ready for a bedtime story.

Darcy loves watching and listening to Cocomelon. She loves singing and dancing copying her carer and the other children when dancing. She always has a big smile on her face when the music comes on. Every morning, Darcy and her carers have a dance to the Alexa to start off the morning.

Darcy loves her food and is not fussy. Although she does cry when someone else has a yoghurt because she wants it!

When Darcy first arrived at her carers when she was 10 months old, she was described as extremely slim, timid and shy. However, she could not be further away from that now! Darcy is now a healthy and outgoing little girl who is making excellent progress consuming regular meals, snacks and able to feed herself finger foods. She has developed a healthy appetite, gaining weight and strength as she joyfully explores new foods. Darcy is currently developing well and meeting many of her developmental milestones. Darcy is developmentally behind with her gross motor skills as she is walking but she is not confident. Darcy is saying small words at the moment such as ‘mum, dad, bot bot, dog, nana, uh oh’. Darcy has recently started attending nursery three days a week and it is hoped that this support will enable Darcy’s development to progress further. Darcy is making a lot of progress with her current carer and she receives lots of positive stimulation and interaction including engaging in play and other activities.
